Daryl's Triathlon

The day started early...3:30am. We had an hour ride to the event. Once there, Daryl was able to enter the transition area where he got all of his equipment set up.

His heat started at 8:15. First was the 750 meter swim, then the 14 mile bike ride and finally the 3.1 mile run. The lake water was about 60 degrees! As the athletes started coming out of the water, many did not look good! The water was just so cold! Daryl's parents and I waited for Daryl to come out. The swim was Daryl's weakest event. He was pretty nervous about it, especially since he had never swam in open water for his training. I knew if he could make it through the swim, he would be able to finish the race. Then we saw him! He looked beat..and cold!

Once he got onto his bike, he got his energy back. Finally it was time for the run. We were waiting for him at the finish line. I was so excited and proud of him!

Transition time to bike-3:23
